Amazing how caring medical professionals can turn a practice around, previously it was an embarrassment. Now however there’s a whole new dynamic about the practice, including support staff who must have been frustrated with the lack of leadership and poor organisation. Those individuals are now able to show their own individual skills and I dare say job satisfaction. When you have cause to book to see one of the medical staff the care you now get is somewhat better than previous. I’m probably old school given my age but I genuinely believe we should not underestimate how important the “local doctors” is to a thriving healthy community.

I joined the practice May 13th 2025 , Leaving another practice that I had been a patient, for some Five years I have found the reception staff so welcoming and obliging answering any questions you may have with politeness and reassurance. If you have a query on the telephone that they cannot answer immediately they promise to call you back and true to there word they do. So refreshing after what I have experienced elsewhere K.Hayes

Don’t bother!!! If you actually manage to get an appointment not only is it always a different locam doctor but they really don’t have time for you!! Ended up in A&E 3 times due to incorrect care and medication!! Truly awful! Never again

Dr Marc Paton is a phenomenally good GP! This practice would be lost without him! Very good listener and very informative and intelligent man. Highly impressed with my recent appointments and his attitude. Genuinely a nice person who’s worth every penny of what he is paid! Keep it this way @billingemedicalpractise and remove GP’s like Dr Raj or whatever his name is… That man is completely useless with a bad attitude. Dr Darlington needs to wind his neck in as well.

I have been a patient of this practice for over 25 years, I have witnessed many periods of time that the surgery and staff have gone the extra mile to provide an excellent service, sadly I did experience occasions when I have felt let down and frustrated. Since the recent changes I am so very impressed with all the hard work, attention to detail and responsiveness provided by the team and surgery. I really encourage patients to access the booking in system on the wall to the left of the reception desk, rather than standing in line whilst another patient is being dealt with, you can simply use the on screen system which only needs your name and date of birth to be entered by yourself and your appointment is confirmed and the GP or Nurse practitioner is notified immediately you are waiting in reception. I've just had the best blood test ever, in and out in under 20 mins, sadly many people who where in the queue where still waiting as I exited. Well Done All Billinge Medical Surgery team. Thank you

I have been a patient at Billinge for over 20 years and at one time it wasn't great but it was all we had. However I have seen really positive changes recently. No problems getting an appointment for my daughter a couple of weeks ago, or my son's regular clinic checks and no problems getting myself an appointment yesterday. Receptionist had a lovely manner and couldn't be more helpful. The doctor I saw was equally lovely and approachable. She knew exactly what treatment I needed and sent a prescription across to the chemist next door. Already feeling so much better today. Great service!

I recently called into the GP practice with my wife for her to collect her blood forms. Whilst I was there, I mentioned to the receptionist that I had an issue with my right hand. She suggested I see the physiotherapist and made me an appointment a few days later. I have to say the quality of the receptionist and the way you're spoken to has vastly improved she was very pleasant and helpful. Well done receptionist ( I didn't get her name, unfortunately). I attended the Physiotherapist Gary Ellis who was very professional and knowledgeable and quickly diagnosed my condition giving me the options open to me and later sent me a text message on my phone with a link to a NHS website about the condition giving advice on how to decide what I wanted to do next. Very efficient. It's nice to give good feedback to this practice, which has received a lot of negative reports in the past. Hopefully, with the new doctors running the practice, things can only improve. 🤞

I rarely need to see the GP until now. I am giving review based on personal experience. I contacted practice via ask my GP and I did get a response from on the same day few week back. Prescription was sent to pharmacy next door and I could get it same evening. My daughter had separate issue and GP did video consultation next day following ask my GP enquiry which works well. We do need to take time off from work as its much easier and works both way. The new doctors have really shaping the service and we need to give them a time to settle after all there are limited good GP.

Just over 2 years ago I needed to contact the surgery but this proved impossible because no one answers the phone and your just left hanging on, even after trying multiple times to get through. So I had to walk to the surgery with a bad leg, so I wasn’t very happy. When I got there the receptionist dealt with my request and then said phone us back tomorrow. (l wasn’t going to mention anything). How do I manage that when no one answers the phone, it’s impossible. This surgery is going down it was never like this.So then she said well if you don’t like it you can find another surgery. This from a receptionist is unacceptable so I just left. At no point was I ever abusive. I was angry having to walk to the surgery so I was snappy but I think anyone would be. But this surgery don’t even give you a fair hearing or even listen to your defence cause won’t even see you just cut you dead. Always thought Doctors where full of compassion but seems not. How silly of me to think that.

Previously the only GP at this surgery has told me my symptoms are of no importance and there is nothing wrong with me which then put me in hospital 4 times, 3 of which in resus for 5 hours unable to leave my bed. Same GP made snarky comments in my notes that he thought I wouldn’t see. More recently this GP would not prescribe medication I needed because he claimed he did not have all the info he needed to prescribe it. He had not read the letter sent by the consultant who ordered it. He read the letter. Still not enough info. The receptionists then contacted the clinic and then asked for a letter explaining what info they needed... whilst on the phone to them! This taking yet another day. The fantastic clinic was not able to contact the consultant as he was himself in clinic so I was waiting another day for vital medication. GP would not make a home visit to prescribe the medication because he “did not have enough information” (?) this surgery is a joke. The sooner they get closed down the better. The receptionists find everything to be too much hard work (the male receptionist however is fantastic and often goes out of his way to help patients) appointments are never available, the phone is always engaged in the morning yet in the afternoon it is never answered. I have had over 50 prescriptions ordered by this surgery and maybe 5 of them were ordered correctly. Go literally anywhere else
